Created primarily through synthesis and samples, this 2nd release is an absorption of and reaction to various realms of electronic music and artwork. It features the sounds & voices of artists from France, India, Mexico, Korea, Japan, Canada, the UK & the US, adding exotic texture to an ethereal gamut of commerciality, strangeness, and much in between.

Created while pursuing Visual Effects for Film at VanArts (Vancouver Institute of Media Arts) and worked in the VFX industry, "S_in_the_S_is" emerged from inspiration, but also necessity, as time away from the studio made only portable electronic tools available for sound work. Unlike the first release, "OMM," which was assembled almost exclusively with live instruments, only minimal live instrumentation and lyricism are implemented on this project.

Also in complete contrast to "OMM" is the highly collaborative nature of the work, which further contributes to the evolving variety in style & approach while preserving the threads of risk & mood that linger in all of my music, articulating my artistic DNA. Infusing the voices, experiences, expressions & vibrations of artists from around the world brings further complexity to the spirit of the album.

A play on the word 'synthesis' (a sound generation method, and a synonym for 'creation'), "S_in_the_S_is" refers to a matrix of meaning and the nature of creativity. "S" is my first initial, representing myself. The S is "in" something, and the S "is" that something at the same time. S is IN it, and S IS it. I am what I am in. S_in_the_S_is.

Also, with one S flipped horizontally & placed directly on top of the other, an infinity symbolic formed. This represents the infinite paradoxical nature of a question I find to be key in creativity's enigma, and that I embraced while creating the album: “What if your gut feeling tells you to ignore your gut feeling?”

If it does, then ignoring the gut feeling is actually going with the gut feeling, which is actually ignoring the gut feeling, which is going with the gut feeling, which is ignoring the gut feeling, and so on to infinity. One entity IS its opposite. Ignoring the gut feeling IS going with the gut feeling. Opposites.

Experiencing the paradox neutralizes one's psycho-emotional state into nothingness; a vacuum. From nothing, one has the greatest potential to become something, whether it be what he was before or something new. Regardless, in the rules of balance, such as yin & yang and perhaps those prevalent in the creation of universes, nothing yields something.

And after collapsing my creative matter, amidst paradox as tight as that central in black holes, I took the opportunity to ride a psychological wormhole to an unharvested creative zone and produced "S_in_the_S_is," as humans may some day use wormholes to traverse unharvested realms of spacetime.
